I don’t know what the bigger present to David Ortiz was- the overpriced, customized parkas on Friday or the juicy down and in pitch on Sunday.
JOAQUIN! ANYWHERE BUT THERE!
I’m not for the goodbye tours in general. But I am especially not for them when a team gifts a retiring player with stuff in a pregame ceremony before an important game. The guy plays for a team who is in a dogfight with yours for the division lead and you are gifting a guy who has done a variation of this to your team, in your own house, for a decade and a half.
Seriously. JOAQUIN! ANYWHERE BUT THERE!
And it’s a guy who has openly and repeatedly talked about poaching your team’s DH to replace him next year.
By the way, MLB on Fox, nice overview on Saturday of how Edwin Encarnación would be the perfect replacement for Ortiz in Boston. Especially the bit where you said they have similar personalities and approaches to the game.
No, they don’t. Just because they are both black and Dominican doesn’t mean they are similar. Reading anything about either guy demonstrates how different they are.
The two homers yesterday were great, though, Edwin. You don't want to play in Boston. If you don't live up to Ortiz (you won't. No one will) it would be hell.
Brock Holt tried to steal home on Russell Martin, who gave me an early birthday present with the look back.
Pas mal chaud, celui-là.
This weekend was disappointing. Had Sanchez been even a fraction more of his usual self, the series might’ve gone better. Blisters are the worst and it’s why I was ok that Dave Roberts took Rich Hill out of his perfect game.
Troy Tulowtizki hit his first grand slam as a Blue Jay. TVA Sports call was great.
He also made quality post game comments.
It's nice to see Tulo step up and take a leadership role. It's also great to see him so chatty and open with the media.
Josh Donaldson looks rough. He had a few opportunities to break the game open and just couldn’t do it. His timing is off, which happens to every player at some time through a season. It’s just unfortunate it’s happening now. However!
Pitchers had better start praying.
