After a While
Ok, so it's been a while.
There was fighting (yay) and then there was losing and getting swept (boo.)
And now there is a lot of talk about firing. Jeff Blair comes out and says that if JP bites it, Cito should bite it, too. While I see the merits of that argument, but to my mind, it isn't that simple. Cito has been on the job for a season and a half. For the amount of time equal to a season (last half of '08 and first half of '09), the Jays kicked ass. The last half of '09 has sucked majorly. Like worse than it has in years. So, is best in years cancelled out by worst in years? I dunno. But, again, it is damn hard to win with Doc and babies. Cito mentions Marcum and Litsch coming back in '10, but missing is McGowan. Which makes me fear for him and think that maybe his body just was not built for pro sports. Tragic.
Perhaps the biggest, brightest spot of this dismal season has been Adam Lind. 106 RBIs and 30 homeruns so far. On reaching 100 RBIs "I just couldn't believe that I did it. My mom always tells me to thank God for all the ability that he's given me, so I decided there'd be no better time than then to be my first time showing that. I don't really do that too much, but I figured it's kind of a big-time number. I thank God for allowing me to do that."
Cito says ""He's a real coachable kid. You can talk to him during a game. A couple of times this year, he'd be getting late started and I'd mention it to him, and he'd get right back to where he needs to go. He's very coachable. He's a pleasure to talk hitting to, because he's so receptive of it and he buys into the plan."
Hmm, I hope Travis Snider is taking note.

Oh Swish, you wish. He also mentions AJ and the damn pies and how fun it is. Die.
