Blatant Stealing of Ideas

For those of you who don't hang out on Twitter as much as I do, I correctly guessed that David Price's wad of gum was made up of 35 pieces and won a signed ball from the starting staff of the Rays.

Brandon Morrow pitched like a BOSS last night and it was beautiful to see. John Lott breaks down the evolution here. I really like that he's got a changeup working, as it is my absolute most favourite pitch.  Lott also told me that Morrow is very smart.

Mr. John annoyed me yesterday by putting Adam Lind back in the four hole. Do you not remember in Boston when you had a Dominican Dynamic Duo hitting 3-4 in the lineup? It was awe inspiring and dangerous. Make a new Dominican Dynamic Duo for a new decade here. Do it. DO IT NOW.

I had the idea of doing a "José  needs a new song" post, but the lovely and awesome Steph and Anne (spell it A-N-N-E) beat me to it. Go read theirs, it's pretty awesome. And yes, Grimes does kick quite a lot of ass.

But in the absence of original ideas, I am making some additions. Consider them footnotes.

To pander to José's taste, I'm going to pick something from a reggaeton group from the Dominican. Wisin y Yandel has been cited more than once as José's jam and it's pretty infectious. I've had a song of theirs called "Dale Mai" in my head for months. Yo se que tu eres una muchacha peligrosa. In the grocery store. In the shower. On public transit. I'm a dangerous girl, so I guess that's why.

I chose one that features Ivy Queen who, true to her name, is the queen of reggaeton.

If I am going to pick another reggaeton artist, I gotta go with Calle 13. They are step brothers out of Puerto Rico, and while reggaeton is usually about ass shaking, lead singer Residente has actually effected me emotionally more than once. Calle 13 is also more eclectic in its style.  Some ballplayers might shy away because one of Calle 13's favourite topics is politics. The other favourite topic is sex. So the stuff is often heated and racy. And I love it.

"La Tripleta" also references that ooga chaka ooga business from the seventies, which is very sporty to me. Music from the 70s is very conducive to sports.

This was a song from last year and Residente said he wrote it as an anthem for Latin America. Considering how strong a Latin presence on this team, I think it's apt.  It's not a walk up song,  but it's gorgeous.

Moving away from Latin America, French electro dance group Justice put out an album recently of total power 70s style rock. Their song "Civilization" was used in an Adidas commercial and it is pretty epic. They have another track called "On n' On" that legend known as Rick Rubin did a remix that I rather enjoy.  I enjoy the guitar breakdown at about the 2 minute mark. I also really enjoy that the dude who uploaded the track as "On n' On, ruined by Rick Rubin"

This isn't a walk up song, but a buck up song for The Tao of Stieb who seems a little low.

"The look of  your face yanks my neck on the chain."

If I required a walk up song in my life, it would be something from the totally, completely gorgeous album from Santigold.  I'm obsessed.
