I didn't really have much to say about the last home stand that just finished, other than "WOW!" and "sigh." So here I present some highlights with some half thought out comments.
Jeez, he's just the best.
Casey did an interview with Sid and Tim on The Fan 590. When asked who was the unsung hero of the first half, Janssen thought about for a second and said Colby Rasmus. No, Casey. I'd say Rasmus is down right sung by now. Which is deserved, obviously. Look at this swing, and how quickly this ball left the confines of the Rogers Centre.
The thing that launches this play into the stratosphere is Mathis patting Moustakas on the thigh, basically saying, "It's ok. Bautista isn't strictly human, so you really had no chance."
I'm still not over Encarnacion not making the All Star team, even though it's essentially a glorified slo-pitch game. I still wanted him to go. Let's just appreciate this play.
Carlos Villanueva, with the injuries to the starters and the struggles of Ricky Romero, has really brought it when the team needed it to be brougthen. (Yes, I know that's not actually a really word.)
The offence during this home stand was amazing.
But it's also frustrating because had the pitching had any kind of consistency at all, this team would be pretty much unstoppable. It's disheartening for a team to explode offensively one half inning and to immediately undo that work in the next half. Down right soul crushing.
