Keep Grinding Away: Jays Win Series in Tampa

May 02, 2016 by Joanna Cornish

The best thing about the game yesterday was simple. The guy who needed to hit the big homer hit the big homer.

Marcus Stroman pitching like a beast on his 25th birthday (eight strong innings!) and winning a series at the Trop were both great things, but watching Troy Tulowitzki connect on a homer that made it 5-1 in the 9th felt cathartic. Bautista tried to get it done earlier in the inning, but couldn't do it. It was ok, because it was meant for Tulo.

“It’s nice to come through for the team in a big spot. I feel good out there. Obviously things aren’t going my way, but it’s a long season and I’ll just keep on grinding away.

The boys also finished the game in Tampa early enough to do this:

That girl on the right can't believe her luck.

I remember reading this last season: Jose Bautista has a thing for sugary cereal.

“How do you wind down before bed?”
I watch TV, make myself a huge bowl of cereal—Cinnamon Toast Crunch or Lucky Charms or Cap’n Crunch—and let the milk do its job and put me to sleep.”

So this was just a matter of time:

The Jays are back in town to host the Rangers for the first time since the ALDS. We've all read amazing things about Game 5. Here it is from the Rangers' POV. It's harrowing.

Also:

“Tell him not to do that ever again,” Dyson tells Encarnacion of Bautista.”

Whoa.
