Afterglow
Focusing on the insane seventh inning in the wrap up post left a lot of loose ends.
So much that came out of the celebrations and the after game interviews that I really need to share it. These are my favourite pictures, hot takes, GIFs and other miscellany from the last 24 hours. (I'll probably add to it.)
Jose Bautista on his bat flip, via John Lott and the National Post:
R.A. Dickey might've had the most fun with fans in the stands.
From the National Post:
Marcus Stroman was out of the game by the seventh, but he most definitely made his mark. I argued with anyone who doubted not starting Price by saying there is something about this Stroman kid. Yes, David Price is a wonderful pitcher, a bazooka according to R.A. Dickey. But Stroman just has something about him. Some sort of chemical compound of perseverance, blistering rage and incandescent joy.
I never bought into the worries about what Gibbons move in Game 4 was going to mean to this team. Sometimes it's obvious that Gibbons makes decisions that his players don't agree with, but I do get the sense they trust him.
Watching the video of the team celebration on field right after the third out, there is a moment that happens that let me know that this team is a unit.
David Price picks Marcus Stroman up and carries him away from the crowd a little bit. They have a moment. Price continues to hold Stroman off the ground while he says stuff to him. My heart stopped.
Edwin Encarnacion has, hands down, one of the nicest smiles ever.
Ben Revere had my favourite post game interview on MLB Tonight.
So Ben, has the party calmed down in Toronto yet?
"No, it has not."
So, Ben, what did you say when you heard you were traded to Toronto?
"Thank you, Jesus."
Also, people keep thinking he's Stroman. Because they are both "4'12" '
The Toronto Star thought Russell Martin was Jose Bautista.

After 24 hrs straight of marvelling at Bautista bat flip pictures I've moved on to Praying Russell Martin. #TheGods pic.twitter.com/PaHLWWoaKY
