BA-ACK

I'm really hoping Adam Lind pulls himself together offensively, but it's mostly for selfish reasons. I love his post-game, on the field interviews.

When asked about a homer, Lind almost always smiles and shakes his head and says something like,
"Yeah....there was a pitch....and I hit it....it was hit hard....I used my bat to hit it."

Romero battled, but never seemed particularly comfortable.

“I’m trying to get deep in the game and let the defence work,” he said. “Those guys are good at what they do and they work hard at it, and it shows.”

Joe Maddon said pre-game that if he had nine lefties, he'd use them against Romero.  Which isn't really shocking considering lefties have been the weakness in Romero's game going back to last season.

The Sun told this to Romero and according to them, Romero was "left fuming" and said,

"He can start nine guys for all I care. I really don’t care what he has to say or what his mindset is against me. If he has nine lefties against me I’ll find a way to win, that’s just the bottom line. There’s been days when those guys have been successful against me from the left side and there’s been days when I’ve come out on top. Like I said, he can do whatever he wants. I’m not worried about that, I’ll just go out there and pitch.”

Whatever, I'm going to go read my pallet cleanser John Lott, who should be considered certifiably magic. After his article about Bautista and his early slump was published, Bautista had a breakout night, with a bomb and a sacrifice fly. He also had a nifty play to throw out the very silly Carlos Peña who ran on Bautista's arm.

Evan Longoria had three errors in the game for the first time ever, and it frightened me. Not just because it is unnerving as it is so unlike him, but I get the feeling the Jays are going to pay for it somehow later on.

Though Arencibia looks awful at the plate,  I am clinging to some optimism.  He looks a lot better behind the plate with his blocks. I don't know if it's Wakamatsu's influence or what, but it's working for him. As Romero puts it,  “J.P.’s been tremendous behind the dish. He’s worked hard at it. I’ve never questioned his defence … Obviously, there’s some tough pitches that he gets behind and he blocks. At the end of the day, he’s pretty beat up. He’s a hard worker and mentally tough, and he’s doing a great job.”

And one of the Longoria errors was tricky and could've gone as a hit for JPA. It would've been nice in two ways, boosting Arencibia's average and lessening the "Wrath of Eva."
