Thoughts

I'm working on a year-end report that will be posted before the end of the season. 2009 started out so beautifully and then exploded. 3 players who are still on the Dome no longer play for the team. Aaron Hill came back from a concussion to be an elite player (who else should win Comeback Player of 2009?) Adam Lind blossoms. Vernon Wells wilts and then seems to be rebounding. So comments are coming.

The thing about Vernon is that he wasn't playing badly as a choice earlier in the year. I mean, why would he? Who wants to be booed? Who wants to be told he isn't worth shit, let alone his contract? If it was as easy as a flipping a switch, wouldn't Vernon just do that?

His excellent play lately should be celebrated because it means that next year might be a hell of a lot better for him than this year, making his contract less of a problem.

Thoughts on the weekend series. Ricky Romero lost his last home game, but I agree this year showed a lot of promise. I'm not sure he replaced AJ, as JP claimed. Yes, he has nearly the same numbers, but having two guys with those numbers is better than having one. Cause Doc is great and all, but he can't pitch for all 5 spots.

Speaking of, he was downright nasty in what Jamie Campbell called (about 700 times) "perhaps his final Rogers Centre appearance". And it was very amusing, interrupting his Cosentino post-game interview, with "I gotta go!" and running away from Vernon and Millar with a pie.

Ichiro showed that he was downright saucy drawing that line in the dirt and getting pretty rightfully tossed. It was still amusing as hell, though.

Also amusing, ADAM FUCKING LIND.
