It Wasn't Pretty

That was tons of fun until it wasn't. The crowd was fired up, they had their towels. The pre-game video package was insanely slick, I wish they would produce my life. Boys played with serious swag. So much swag that the "swag"(Drink!) drinking game got out of control.  JP Arencibia was asked, in t-shirt form, to check out some girl's dugout.

There was a brawl in the 100 section.  They threw Birkin bags and diamonds at each other.

My favourite player of the game was Colby Rasmus.  Just watching him play well, with all those tools, is fun. The mouth breathers' favourite whipping boy made a gorgeous catch in centre field and hit his first triple as a Blue Jay.

"I was definitely happy to have everybody cheering for me, especially since the struggles I’ve had since I’ve got here."

Aw, Colby. Your hair is also the gift that keeps on giving. It does some really great emo shit after it's been in a helmet for a while.

Henderson Alvarez had a really strong outing and remains incredibly calm under pressure. Apparently, he was chilling on a couch with Encarnacion's music pre-game.

Sergio Santos has blown two saves in two save opportunities. He was clearly a mess last night.Santos gave up two hits, a sacrifice fly, three walks and a wild pitch, handing three runs to the previously winless Red Sox. It was enough for the bandwagon to get restless and vocal, but at least he stuck around for questions with the press. “I’d be booing too. It wasn’t pretty,” he said. He is going to write a full-page apology in Toronto papers, just so we all feel better about ourselves.

There were a lot of names being thrown around on Twitter during the mess, but I think it's way too early to start re-naming guys after past shitty closers. Santos is still new to pitching and has a ton of stuff. Harnessing "stuff" involves touch and rhythm.  Maybe we should all just let go of the idea of closers and saves, and just go to guys based on match ups and rest. Mr. John was a little slow with the hook, I thought. It was pretty obvious that Santos was not feeling it that night and the game was running off the rails.

The fact of the matter is is that the hitters didn't hit enough and that two runs was never going to hold against a line up like the Sox.

“I don’t think that it matters,” said Jose Bautista, sensibly, when asked about the importance of sending a message to the Red Sox. “It doesn’t make a difference if we lose three [now], or win seven later.”

or

Blah blah blah long season blah.

How's that for in-depth analysis?
